Waystead Inn is an 18th-century home, completely restored with modern amenities, atop the highest knoll in all of Berlin, MD. We purchased the long-neglected property in 2010. It had been a private residence for several notable Berlin families over the years. We've hosted numerous guests who lived here as far back as 1944.
We purposefully set out to redesign the interior spaces to create an Inn and make room for Five Queen en suite Guest Rooms, as well as Public Spaces to relax and flake, chill, or snooze. Our commercial kitchen and a Dining Room seating up to 20 translate to tasty breakfasts and custom-made dinners and Cooking Classes.
The Inn looms 200 feet from Main St and Harrison Ave. It is very quiet here. Except when the Fire Department siren sings. Life in a small town. 1-1/2 acres of Inn grounds offer plenty of walkabout space. You're welcome to explore the 6-plus acres of Town-owned greenpark and woods which girdle the estate as well.
The building interior was taken apart and either demolished or tagged and stored for restoration. We earned our Certificate of Occupancy in just fourteen months from demolition. Take a look back before the renovation.
Lots of space to stretch out and relax. The clubby Den is outfitted with a mini-library and a large TV, leather sofas, stunning artwork. The Parlor is full of Period furnishings, a gas-fired hearth, and paintings and lithographs from the Owners' private collection.
Customer service befitting royalty. Think of anything that would make your stay with us extraordinary. Champagne and strawberries, fresh cut flowers, a snazzy lawn party. Ask… we will try to accommodate your needs. At your service m'lord!

Going to the Dogs
Dogs are welcome at Waystead Inn. Never had a dog smoke in bed and set fire to the blankets. Never had a dog get drunk and bust up the furniture or argue with its traveling companion. So if your dog can vouch for you, you’re welcome too!
Waystead Inn is home to not only its Innkeeper and guests, but also to at least one Evanescent Spirit with a decidedly prankish and humorous nature. Doors slamming shut, beds pushed from the wall, items relocated… you can believe it or not.
