The town of Berlin, Maryland, is 15 minutes west of Ocean City and the Assateague National Seashore. The area was settled in the 1790's and was incorporated as a town in 1868. Berlin was known for its hunting and fishing as well as a rest stop for travelers on their way to Ocean City, Maryland.
